DNA
Student Chapters--An Important Part
of Delta Nu Alpha
If your educational institution
college or university does not already have a DNA Student Chapter,
you're missing an integral component of your DNA student membership.
Student Chapters can be at the undergraduate, associate or graduate
level, depending upon the institution, and provide DNA student members
with:
- A link to others in their field, at your
institution
- A vehicle for organizing job fairs and career
day
- An opportunity to host speakers for your
meetings, take tours, and manage a number of other events to learn
more about transportation
- Assistance from DNA
- Employment services through the Job Bank
network on the DNA Home Page
- Opportunities to make valuable contacts with
future employers through the DNA Transportation Education Conference
- Access to the DNA "Members Only"
section on the DNA web site
- A DNA Membership Pin
- A DNA Membership Certificate
- Recognition by your peers
through an annual awards program
- AND MORE!
DNA encourages student chapters and
supports them by:
- Passing on ideas from other chapters
- Mentoring students
- Providing membership recruitment literature and
applications
- Suggesting programs for meetings
- Providing a roster of members to the chapter

- Once your school has identified a group of DNA
student members, organize a meeting to plan and elect Chapter
officers. It is also recommended that your chapter have
a Faculty Advisor.
- After the initial organizational meeting, send
to DNA
International OR your Regional
Vice President:
1. Charter
Application;
2. Petition
for Chapter Formation (signed by the president of the proposed
chapter, the regional vice president, and the charter members;
3. Three copies of the proposed Chapter
Bylaws consistent with those of Delta Nu Alpha;
4. A completed membership
application for each charter member;
5. A Chapter check to cover the charter fee
($75.00) and dues for each member of the applicant group.
Timetable
- Your Chapter's Proposed Bylaws will be reviewed
by Delta Nu Alpha's Bylaws Chair for consistency with the Fraternity
Bylaws. Bylaws may be returned with suggested amendments that would
bring them into compliance with DNA Bylaws. Chapters should allow
two - three weeks for this review process.
- Once approved, the Bylaws Chair will return the
proposed Chapter Bylaws to the International Office.
- The Delta Nu Alpha International Board will
review the petition and approved bylaws and make a final
recommendation. Upon a positive recommendation, Chapter status will
be granted as authorized by the Board. The new Chapter members
will be eligible to apply for DNA
Scholarships.
- Once Chapter status is granted, a Chapter
charter is ordered and the Chapter's Faculty Advisor (or President,
if no Faculty Advisor is named) is notified of approval.
Transfer of Membership
- All members will be entered immediately in the
database.
- All existing members in good standing who sign
the submitted petition are automatically transferred as a group to
the new Chapter when the new charter is issued.
